McCall and Walker met in June 2019 while they were both working as wranglers at Trail West, a YoungLife camp in Buena Vista, CO. They shared a love for horses, swing-dancing, and driving each other crazy. Walker took particular pride in roping McCall's feet out from under her, which resulted in McCall throwing a pile of horse manure at Walker's face. While they were just friends, McCall recognized that Walker held every quality she desired in her future husband- strong, funny, hard-working, family-oriented, and loves Jesus. She would pray for a man like him for years after they met.

McCall and Walker stayed in touch through their YoungLife group chat over the next 2 years. After graduating from their respective colleges in 2021, Walker and McCall began to talk more often. While McCall was working late into the night in D.C., Walker would keep her company on FaceTime, often into the early hours of the morning. A few weeks later, Walker sent McCall a bouquet of flowers for her birthday, with a note saying "Happy Birthday Beautiful." McCall booked a flight to see Walker in Charlotte three weeks later.

After several weeks of flying and driving between Washington, D.C., and Charlotte, NC to see one another, Walker told McCall he loved her while visiting McCall in D.C. for Halloween. She said it back. And in complete opposite order, Walker then asked McCall to be his girlfriend that December. She said yes, and wouldn't have changed a thing.

McCall moved to Charlotte June 2022, in an apartment across the street from Walker's. They spent the next year learning how to grow their friendship into a relationship, making new friends, and settling into their post grad lives together. They met each other's families that year, bought a yellow lab puppy named Wyatt (because just one dog wasn't enough), and Walker supported McCall as she began her law school admissions process.

After accepting a spot in the 2026 class of the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law, McCall moved to Columbia, SC, where she and Walker maintained a long distance relationship. Walker left his job and moved to Columbia to join McCall in December 2023.

In March, 2024, Walker took McCall to the Ritz at Lake Oconee under the guise of a dinner date. He proposed on the lakefront and surprised McCall with both of their families and all of their friends.
